The usage of nanny cam is your choice. If you want security coverage, install a nanny cam in your home. If you are having live in nanny, you cannot install cam in his or her room. Inform to nanny about the cam installation is your choice. If you inform to nanny then you should not inform about the place of installation.
Informing about the existence of a nanny cam can be perceived in one of the two ways. Some nannies understand that they do not have any problem but others may be offended and feel you do not trust them. Fitting a camera in your own home to ensure that your nanny is acting reasonably and professionally while in charge of your children is perfectly legal.
