Types of Daycare

If their child will not be at home with a parent or family member there are generally two types of out of home child care for parents to choose from:

Day Care Center

The day care facility is an organization which is being functioned privately offers child care for both babies and preschool aged children. Generally children are grouped by age and are assigned to one specific caregiver. Many parents prefer the child care center since their child is always under the watchful eye of many different adults and less likely to be neglected due to the highly controlled atmosphere. Enquire how many children are in each group while considering a child care centre.

Family Child Care Provider

This option is often more affordable than a child care center but does not offer the same highly controlled environment. Look out for a provider who is licensed and accredited when considering this option, who has a low number of children enrolled, and who has an updated criminal records check and child abuse and neglect clearance. Some parents prefer the family child care provider since there is a high turnover of employees in day care centers habitually and this option assures the child will remain with the same caregiver longer.
