Union region Red Cross to offer babysitter training


The Union County division of the Red Cross will offer babysitter training from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, in the chapter office at 249 Farley Circle, Lewisburg.

Contestants must be at least 11 years of age to participate. The cost for the course is $25, which includes the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Handbook and Babysitter Bag. It provides informative ideas and skills necessary to provide safe and answerable care for children in the absence of parents or guardians. The training will help participants for developing their skills in five critical areas: leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism.

Other mechanisms of this program include feeding, diapering and responding to choking and breathing emergencies. Pre-registration is required and can be arranged by calling the Union County Chapter of the American Red Cross at 524-0400. Class size is limited to ten participants and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
