Holiday tipping etiquette

Christmas is the time of year when people are more munificent with their time as well as money. Charitable institutions receive more donations than normal, and relatives suddenly show up at family reunions, wanting to share their blessings as well. If you are happy with the service delivered by your waiter, then give him a good tip. If he pours you more wine and only charges you what is supposed to be equivalent to two glasses only then tip him extra, because he went the extra mile for you too. Tell your son’s nanny or your family’s cook who has been with you for seven years now if the relationship is more personal and it is but appropriate to accompany the tip with a gift.
