Training available for Babysitter


Local youth 11 to 15 years of age will study child care handiness that can lead to job opportunities on Wednesday, Dec. 27th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.The one-day Babysitter's Training will be arranged by the American Red Cross-Kern division in their Education Center at 225 18th Street in Bakersfield. A fee is $45.00 and including course materials, reference book and tote.

Those attending the class will study how to carry out first aid and get professional medical help in an urgent situation, recognize common safety hazards and prevent injuries, make good, responsible decisions and manage infants through school-age children.

In addition, they will find out how to select safe and age-appropriate plaything and games, perform essential care routines like diapering, feeding and dressing, prepare simple meals and snacks, handle bedtime matter and search and interview for babysitting jobs.
