Today, a former nanny who set up a recruitment business worth £300m will be named as the businesswoman of the year. Rosaleen Blair's only commercial experience was running a nanny agency when she moved to London from her native Dublin aged 29. And she became conscious that she could save companies a fortune by getting them to outsource all their recruitment and quit to commence her own firm at the Alexander Mann recruitment consultancy. Her past employer offered to put up the capital and now, 11 years later, Alexander Mann Solutions employs 800 staff on three continents and handles recruitment for Vodafone, Prudential, Credit Suisse, Deloitte and Cable & Wireless. She added 'slowly but surely we began to show people the benefits.' At the Stock Exchange, Ms Blair who is a resident of Fulham will be given the Veuve Clicquot Award in a ceremony.
