Child care becomes an issue for working parents

Edmonton parents who are in search of a nanny could be in for a serious case of the baby blues. Local agencies say there is a shortage of live-in as well as live-out nannies in the city. Paul McKenney, the owner of Alberta International Domestic Agency said Heaps of people are working two to three jobs and so they definitely require nannies. The recruiter said he places three to five nannies per week. Adding to the nanny shortage is the fact that live-in caregivers tend to change jobs as soon as they can, said ex-nanny Maria Cabua. Cabua has an idea of starting her own home day care in Millwoods in the month of July and she said that looking out for so many kids will also be paid a low pay. As there is a great demand and though Cabua knows that it is trouble-free for her to go back to being a nanny, she added that she would rather start her own business.
