Intruder batters nanny, takes cash

Police announced that a man who used baseball bat to beat a live-in nanny in a borough home remained at large Tuesday, police said. Detective Bob Francaviglia said a man pierced the home at about 10:30 a.m. through the unlocked front door on Lawrence Street. The nanny told police that she was loading the dishwasher when he entered and the suspect had a baseball bat. Francaviglia said he hit the nanny five times in the head with the baseball bat. The nanny told police that the man repeatedly asked her where the money was leaving her bleeding in the bathroom. Police added that the nanny escaped from the house through a window present in the bathroom and also by rendering help from the neighbors. Child was sleeping in the upstairs and it is not injured by him and it is not sure that whether the suspect knew the family or not. The family also had a video surveillance unit, which was not operating at the time and this report was given by the police and Francaviglia added that an unrevealed amount of cash was taken from the home. And the nanny was treated in Westwood for her injuries and released the same day.
