Red Cross Conducts Babysitter Boot Camp

The Benton-Franklin American Red Cross chapter had sleeping bags and pillows as well all set to go today, but not for an emergency. Young girls took part in an overnight Babysitting Boot Camp instead. They practiced giving their infants CPR and also learned how to check for a pulse and this training is invaluable for babysitters about whom the talk is going on. Paris Wilson says "You don't want the child dying because that's, ya know, a person is very irreplaceable." And Emma Stephens says, "If I am ever in that position, i'll know what to do and I won't be frozen, thinking what to do". By feeding each other, babysitters spent their time by feeding each other blindfolded. Chocolate pudding replaced actual baby food and it became lucky for them and this sort of exercise helps sitters to anticipate how the child will react. Boot Camp Director Chris Roemeling said she would be in need of these girls who are doing CPR on her instead of an adult. The reason behind is that they are incredibly dedicated as well as committed for saving lives.
