Many foreign women working as Nannies or domestic workers in the Republic of Ireland are being oppressed by their employers. They are paid only little and the report says that nannies are working 14-hours a day for about 2 euro per hour. Even though the employers are wealthy they are not paying much. Many, who have left husbands and children behind to earn sufficient money to send home, have found themselves trapped in big houses, not being remunerated properly, having their privacy invaded and their passports withheld. They are constantly over worked and asked to do everything from minding the children all day, cooking, cleaning, washing etc.
Nannies play a significant part in many families: they are habitually nurturers, sometimes educators, companions, caretakers, even mentors. Some parents find it essential to make use of live-in-nannies, while others favor to appoint part-time nannies, or a baby sitter able to work on an as-need basis. Suchlike the terms of agreement, nannies can become so closely associated with their employers' families that it is of mutual benefit for both parties to make clear their relevant expectations and restrictions earlier. The association between a nanny and the child's family should be built on faith. Nanny services and agencies are offered to facilitate qualified nannies with the right employers. With the rapid increase in maid services and the jump in the economy, the households utilizing maid services have grown-up terrifically.
