Nanny laws again on upswing

Throughout the country, lawmakers are passing the laws for regulating the grease your doughnuts are fried in, the calls you make from the road and what you listen to while crossing the street even the bat your kid uses to hit the baseball. Normally the ideas are offered with the best intentions for minimizing a newly recognized danger or to encourage healthy behavior. Detractors counter that regulating French fries as well as Blackberries mainly infringes on personal liberties. Some critics also call it as "Nanny Government," and they point to a playpen full of behavior-related bills before city councils and state legislatures. Attempts were also made by the government for making changes in the public behavior have a very long history, from Prohibition not only in the '20s to safety belt laws in the '80s but also smoking bans in the '90s.

Desperate mums turn to black market nannies

A survey made by cosmetics company Heat Group have come across that 12 percent of women currently pay child minders in cash. A further 57 percent said they would consider hiring a child minder for cash if they couldn't find childcare that suited their budget. Last year, a parliamentary inquiry heard evidence that the black market in childcare could be worth as much as $6 billion. Nannies employed for cash avoid the taxman costing the government revenue but parents could be putting their children at risk for the reason that the carer is both unregistered and unregulated as well. A survey was made on the black market in childcare and was run on the Heat Group's website and nearly 160 women responded. Sixteen percent of respondents under 25-40 of age said they were employing a child minder and paying cash at present and 60 percent said they would consider paying cash for childcare.

The Nanny Diaries Review

Directors Shari Berman and Robert Pulcini take the reins of The Nanny Diaries in this film translation of McLaughlin and the bestselling novel of Kraus, the same name right from the duo that brought the perilously commended American Splendor to the big screen. And capitalizing on the fame of book and attraction of America as well with the monarchal matrons of upper crust society, The Nanny Diaries proffers a ruthlessly funny but humanely tempered look at the life of one Manhattan nanny. Scarlett Johansson headlines as Annie Braddock, a fresh-out-of-college anthropology major when trying to enter the professional world and who experiences an identity crisis. Overwhelmed by her conflicting requirements, an overbearing mother, and some all-too-familiar financial woes, Annie accepts a nanny position with Mr. and Mrs. X family.

Lawmakers run amok with nanny' bills

Throughout the country lawmakers are proposing laws for regulating the grease your doughnuts are fried in, the calls you make from the road, what you listen to when you cross the street, even the bat your kid hits a baseball with. The ideas are offered with the best intentions. And normally these intentions are made to minimize a newly recognized danger or to encourage healthy behavior whatever may be. Lawmakers worry, for example, that text-messaging while driving can be deadly and that foods fried in trans fats promote heart disease. Critics counter that amendable French fries and Blackberries infringes on personal liberties. "Nanny Government" some critics call it, and they point to a playpen full of behavior-related bills before city councils as well as state legislatures.

Capitol nannies want to control your behavior

The Democratic majority seems to be carving wood instead of carving meaningful policies taking too much of time on its hands. Just have a look at the preoccupation with headline-grabbing legislation that tries to govern all the ungovernable human behaviors while real problems facing adults and children go unaddressed instead of truly tackling traffic congestion, violence, overcrowded prisons, overextended courts, teetering-on-the-brink pension systems, the deficit, cellar-dwelling schools, diabetic kids, public health care, over-regulation and taxes that scare away employers, lawmakers seem intent on spending time and taxpayer money addressing niche issues. Nanny-state proposals get written not because they are necessary but because they are easy as well as tend to detain media attention.

Splitting the cost of nannies an alternative to day care

As parents seek affordable, nanny-sharing is on the rise and has more personal child care. Normally, each year the nanny industry is growing its worth up to $500 million. The type of people hiring nanny services was also evolving in an extensive way. While comparing the cost issues, the cost of nanny-sharing compares well to child-care costs that can go up to $100 a day, especially for parents with more than one child. More often the nanny and children will spend one week of time at one parent's home and the next week at another's place. The nanny-sharing families often take several turns to be the base home, with up to four children cared for by the one person.
